Mega Rally in Leh Rescheduled to March 16
Leh, Ladakh | 10 March 2026
Leaders of the Leh Apex Body (LAB) have announced that the proposed mega rally in Leh has been rescheduled to March 16, instead of the earlier planned date of March 12. The decision was taken after discussions with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA).
The rally is being organized to protest the delay in talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs and to demand the release of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and others who were detained in Leh.
According to the organizers, the rally will be held across both districts of Ladakh, with participants marching from Singay Namgyal Chowk to Polo Ground in Leh. People from across the region โ including areas from Alchi to Changthang โ have been requested to take part in the peaceful demonstration.
Meanwhile, sources said the Kargil Democratic Alliance may call for a complete shutdown in Kargil as part of the protest. However, leaders of the Apex Body clarified that markets in Leh will remain open during the rally.
They also emphasized that participation in the rally is voluntary, adding that job aspirants or students preparing for examinations may choose not to participate if they wish.
The rally is expected to draw significant public participation as civil society groups continue to push for dialogue with the central government and raise concerns about the future of Ladakh.
