A New Dawn for Ladakh: Sonam Wangchuk Calls for Unity and Positive Change

Renowned innovator and social reformer Sonam Wangchuk has called for unity dialogue, and a constructive path forward for Ladakh, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the people.
Speaking in Leh after recent developments, Wangchuk said he was feeling well and deeply moved by the warm reception. He emphasized that the future of Ladakh must be built on cooperation, mutual understanding and a shared vision that ensures progress for all.
Reflecting on recent events, he acknowledged that Ladakh has faced challenges and setbacks, but expressed hope that a new phase of positive change has already begun. He stated that people now expect meaningful progress and a clear direction for the region. While expressing hope that future circumstances would not require protests, he added that such decisions would depend on the situation if needed.
Wangchuk also made it clear that he holds no bitterness regarding past events, stressing his belief in looking forward toward transformation, reconciliation, and collective growth.
In a symbolic reflection, he compared his own experience to a “new sunrise,” expressing hope that similar renewal will come for others who have faced hardships.
He also praised senior Ladakhi leader Tsering Dorjay Lakrook, describing him as not only the “Iron Man of Ladakh” but also a “diamond” whose strength and dedication continue to inspire many.
Acknowledging collective efforts, Wangchuk appreciated the contributions of the Apex Body Leh and the Kargil Democratic Alliance, along with the people of Ladakh who have supported the movement throughout.
He also extended special thanks to the legal fraternity for their support and expressed heartfelt gratitude to his wife for standing by him during challenging times.
