Ladakh N E W S | Religious Update

Leh/Ladakh, 3 March 2026: Buddhists across Ladakh today observed Tangpe Chuna, the 15th day of the first Tibetan lunar calendar, a highly sacred and auspicious occasion in the Buddhist tradition. The holy day is marked by prayers, offerings, and spiritual practices aimed at generating merit and promoting compassion.
Devotees were seen performing Gochak prostrations, a traditional act of deep devotion and humility symbolizing purification of mind and body. Monasteries and public spaces witnessed groups of followers engaging in continuous prostrations while reciting prayers, reflecting strong faith and spiritual discipline.
Adding further significance to the holy day, a lunar eclipse also occurred today. In Buddhist belief, eclipses are considered powerful spiritual moments when prayers and positive actions are believed to multiply in merit.
Religious leaders encouraged people to dedicate the day to peace, kindness, and reflection, strengthening the values of harmony and compassion within society.
